Celebrating Women, Community & Connection

This year’s Fabulous Long Lunch in celebration of International Women’s Day was an intimate and uplifting event, hosted at the beautiful The Barn in Mudgee. With a relaxed pace, stunning surrounds and a thoughtfully curated experience, it was a heartfelt afternoon focused on connection, conversation and community.

While the original plans included speakers travelling from Brisbane, Cyclone Alfred had other ideas. With flights grounded and weather unpredictable, the program was swiftly reimagined - and the result was something truly special.

Guests enjoyed a long, lingering lunch paired with outstanding Burnbrae Wines, surrounded by thoughtful table settings and the warm company of local women from across the region. With plenty of time for conversation, the afternoon fostered a genuine sense of community and shared purpose.

A standout moment was the “in conversation” session with Myff Clarke, Dubbo Electorate Woman of the Year 2024. Myff shared her story with humility and strength, reflecting on leadership, community engagement and the value of showing up - even when it’s hard.

Also presenting on the day was Debbie O’Connor, founder of the TOTS Blanket Challenge - a grassroots initiative inviting volunteers to knit or crochet 20x20cm squares, later stitched into vibrant blankets for those in need. Her message of kindness, creativity and collective action resonated deeply with attendees.

Despite the weather setbacks, the 2025 Fabulous Long Lunch proved that with heart and flexibility, something beautiful always emerges. It was a day that honoured women not just in words, but in presence - a celebration of what it means to gather, share and grow stronger together.
