MEET: Simone Peppitt from Florence May Intimates

Simone is the woman behind Florence May Intimates, Mudgee’s only speciality lingerie store.

What makes your business unique?

Being the only lingerie boutique in the Mudgee region, we are proud to have a world-class fitting service and size inclusive brands up to a K cup. We also offer a specialised post-breast cancer care service. My clinical background is assisting women in breast cancer surgery recovery and fitting breast prostheses and bras. This experience, combined with an in-depth understanding of the emotional and physical trauma associated with breast cancer treatment, delivers an empathic and knowledgeable service for all customers.

What do you love about running your business?

I truly love opening the door to my boutique each day and seeing who will wander into our beautiful store and emerge transformed through the simple process of wearing a bra fitted perfectly for her.

It continues to amaze me that so many women put up with ill-fitting, uncomfortable and unflattering bras and lingerie as they feel there is no alternative. I enjoy educating women on how a bra should fit, and to help her find the right bra style for her shape and lifestyle.

What would you say is your personal definition of success?

After one year in business, I have paused to reflect on the previous 12 months. Opening a retail store in a country town during an economic crisis was not part of the game plan, but we have managed to ride the waves and weather the storm. Staying true to my original vision for the business, seeing it come to life and steering it through the ups and downs is my personal definition of success this past year.

Whats does 2024 hold for Florence May Intimates?

We are (finally) launching our online store which will enhance and complement the in-store experience. It will be unique in that each bra will feature sizing tips specific to that style, fit videos and instant feedback on size queries to ensure the online bra shopping experience is pain free and easy.
