I took the long way home yesterday

Yesterday was a big day.

After weeks of writing, editing, designing, proofing and making countless little tweaks, I finally sent our latest issue of Mid-Western Living Magazine to print.

It's always a strange feeling. Equal parts relief, excitement and a little disbelief that another issue is complete.

To celebrate, I treated myself to lunch before heading home. And instead of taking the quickest route, I took the long way.

As I drove through our region, I found myself taking it all in a little more than usual. The rolling hills, the vineyards, the country roads, the cafés buzzing with people, the shopfronts that make our towns so unique.

It reminded me just how lucky we are to live here.

One of the greatest privileges of publishing Mid-Western Living is that every issue introduces me to another incredible business, another passionate owner or another hidden gem I didn't know existed. I get to hear the stories behind the businesses, meet the people who pour their hearts into them, and see first-hand what makes this region so special.

It's easy to take that for granted when it's on your doorstep.

So here's a little challenge.

The next time you're looking for somewhere to grab a coffee, enjoy lunch, buy a gift or spend an afternoon, try somewhere new. Pick up the magazine, flick through the pages and discover a business you've never visited before.

You might just find your new favourite.
