In a world of scrolling, print still matters

community explore Aug 13, 2026

In a world where everything seems to disappear with the next scroll, I've been thinking a lot about the power of something that lasts.

A magazine on a coffee table.

One that's picked up while waiting for a coffee. Flicked through on a weekend away. Shared with a friend. Left in a holiday home for the next visitors to discover.

Unlike social media, it isn't gone tomorrow. It sits there, waiting for the right person to find it. And that's one of the reasons I still believe so strongly in print.

Every issue of Mid-Western Living becomes a snapshot of our region. A collection of businesses, people and places that deserve to be celebrated.

Months after publication, I still receive messages from businesses saying someone walked through their door with the magazine tucked under their arm.

"I found you in here."

I love that. Because it's never just about ink on paper.

It's about creating moments of discovery that continue long after the magazine has been printed.

And in a fast-moving world, I think there's something pretty special about that.
