NEW ERA FOR LOCAL FAVOURITE
Jan 06, 2026
A Mudgee icon has entered a new era, as The Butchershop Café welcomes new owners Genevieve and Shane Purdy - familiar faces with a shared passion for the hospitality industry and a desire to put down deep roots in the community.
Set inside a beautifully restored former butcher shop in the heart of town, the café blends old-world charm with a vibrant, modern menu.
With original tiled walls, leadlight windows and a vintage meat hook still suspended from the ceiling, the space pays homage to history while serving up breakfast, lunch, and seriously good coffee seven days a week.
Genevieve, a long-time barista at the café before taking the reins, brings a passion for regional café culture - the belief that you shouldn’t have to visit Sydney or Melbourne to enjoy top-tier coffee and food.
Together with Shane, she’s proudly continuing the café’s story, now fuelled by their own vision and the support of their loyal community.
The Butchershop Café serves classic meals using local produce, with all baked goods and sweets crafted in-house by chef Monica
Coffee lovers can expect a premium cup every time, with a premium blend from Orange rosters Seven Miles.
Now open seven days:
Sunday & Monday: 6am - 12pm
