Why Local Business Matters

Small businesses are the heartbeat of our region.

They are the cafés that know your coffee order, the retailers who remember your name, the tradies who show up when something needs fixing, the makers, growers, creators, service providers and family businesses who bring life and character to our towns.

In the Spring Issue of Mid-Western Living, we’re celebrating local business in a big way.

With the support of ACEREZ, we’ve created a special feature ahead of NSW Small Business Month in October, shining a light on businesses from across the region. Some are well established. Some are growing. Some are doing something a little different. All of them are part of the fabric of our community.

What I love most about this feature is that it reminds us that small business is personal.

Behind every shopfront, service, product, farm, studio, workshop or idea is someone backing themselves. Often with late nights, early mornings, family involved, risks taken and a whole lot of heart.

These are also the businesses that give back. They sponsor the raffle, donate the prize, support the school fundraiser, say yes to the local event and keep our main streets alive.

So as you read through this issue, I hope you discover someone new. I hope you revisit an old favourite. I hope you book the service, buy the gift, make the appointment, plan the visit or simply remember the power of choosing local whenever you can.

Because when we support local business, we are doing more than making a purchase.

We are backing local families, local jobs, local dreams and the future of the towns we love.
