Young Poet Shares Award-Winning Words Far and Wide
Sep 08, 2026
At just 16 years old, Jocelyn Cafe is already making her mark with words, wool and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Her poem, Free by Nature, recently won the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW A.B. Paterson Bush Poetry Award at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, and after people began asking where they could read it, Jocelyn created a simple way to share it more widely.
Through her website, readers can register to receive a postcard copy of the award-winning poem, giving the piece a life beyond the competition stage and into the hands of those who connect with its message.
Jocelyn is also this year’s winner of the Merino Fleece Young Judges Competition at the Sydney Royal and will represent New South Wales at the state finals in Brisbane. Down the track, she hopes to use her website to share sustainable items inspired by natural fibres.
Free by Nature is a beautiful beginning from a young regional creative with a bright future ahead.
